An attempt to categorize games, particularly spatial games.

15 categorizations (dimensions as they're called in the paper):

SPACE -- Perspective, Topography, Environment.
TIME -- Pace, Teleology, Representation.
PLAYER STRUCTURE -- (Single/Multi, Adversary/Team).
CONTROL -- Mutability, Savability, Determinism.
RULES -- Topological, Time-based, Objective-based.

NB - claim for 15 dimensions but only 13 given.

p.49   Points out that it "makes no sense to look at a single player game and a multiplayer game as the same game."

"...they are two different games" in terms of the given typology.

There's a possible contradiction to this on p.51 where: "It is common to distinguish between single player and multiplayer games, but we see this as an oversimplified categorization".   Added by: Mark Grimshaw-Aagaard
