Complex spaces can be distinguished as: 1. Isotopias -- analogous places. 2. Heterotopias -- contrasting places, prohibited places(?). 3. Utopias -- no place, the absolute, symbolic, imaginary. See also Foucault for heterotopias (Foucault 1984). Foucault, M. (1984). Of other spaces, heterotopias. Architecture, Mouvement, Continuité, 5, 46–49.
