Abstract |
"The Audio Mostly Conference has since its start in 2006 become a venue for researchers, technicians and artists exploring audio in interactive and other computer-based environments. The themes have varied over the years, from the first year’s focus on “Sound in Games” over “Interaction with Sound”, “Sound and Motion”, “Sound and Emotion” to this year’s (2010) theme “Sound & Design”. The theme for the fifth Audio Mostly conference 2010 can be seen as a way to express the common denominator for all conferences in the series. Sound as design material, sound as a way to design experiences, information and narratives have been in focus for many projects and presentations over the years. The invitation to the conference’s peers to focus on “Sound & Design” has resulted in a number of articles and demos on research projects dealing with methods, tools and techniques for the design of sound in interactive environments and the evaluation of these design efforts. As a complement to the scientific perspectives on sound and design, this year also has a special “industry session” where relevant highquality work in the area, but not strictly scientific, is presented. The 2010 Audio Mostly conference is organized by The Interactive Institute, Sonic Studio in Piteå, Sweden.
