Abstract
"This essay investigates the role that music plays in videogame virtuality and diegesis. An evaluation of diegetic and nondiegetic levels in game music raises questions regarding the involvement of extradiegetic surroundings and embodiment in the process of gaming. Music, it will be argued, supradiegetically expands the magic circle of videogaming into the real-life surroundings of the player. In this way, it underlines the potentially uncanny dimension of videogaming."
